LSK DEFEATS FLOYA 4-0 FOR 3rd PLACE IN TABLE 27June10
Today, we won our game against Floya by 4-0, nice to get back to our winning
ways. We dominated the match from start to finish and ran those poor Floyans off the field. The win means that we move to third in the table as the
mid-point of the season approaches.
LSK has sometimes struggled against the Floya Club, most recently losing to
them while training in Turkey, so we needed to play well. This was all the more so, because we played so badly against Roa. We played well tonight - yeah.
Our goals were scored by Nasra, who got two (one a penalty kick), Mari Knudsen
and Linn Buros. The first 10-15 minutes was evenly played, but then Floya could not contrive a single shot for the rest of the half. We did well
attacking from out wide, but crosses into the box seemed to go invariably to their goalie.
In the 36th minute, we played it right. The ball came up the left side and was
crossed onto Nasr's left foot for a goal.
In the 58th minute we were awarded yet another corner, and we put the ball in the goal. Marit centred a good corner that the goalkeeper miscalculated. Linn
-Cecilie had 4 players converging on her, but she still managed to fire the ball into the net.
We stayed in full control for the rest of the match. Nasra got a second goal,
but from a penalty shot. Marit made an amazing run down the left side of the field before cutting in on net where she wa fouled in the box. Nasra scored the penalty for her.
At 88 minutes, we scored a final goal as Marit put away the shot. We deserved the
4-0 win.
I thought we showed good composure and made good decisions throughout the game. This was a good win and one we need to follow up next week when we
play Donn away. We lost to them 2-1 at home about a month ago so we are seeking revenge. One piece of bad news from Sunday's game is that Catherine
Dekkerhaus was injured and will probably be out for the Donn game.
Then we move into the mid summer vacation. Before today's match, we have had
two weeks of training without a game. We were on "break." as the Norwegian national team played their matches. It has been a tough two weeks for me.
I started the
Canada National team's training program on June 14th, and it has
taken more than a few days for my body to get used to the extra work load. Carolina and her staff have made individualized training packets for each of
us on the Canada National squad. The programs are hard, but I find them also exciting, as you know each is individualized. Each program that we work on was
made for us personally, to improve physical weaknesses and make us better players.
In my career, often everyone on a team gets the same training program, and I
have always found this a little strange. Why should a centre midfield player and a flank player be doing the same fitness regimens?
Even after the last two weeks of work, I am already feeling stronger and
fitter. However, I do find it very tiring to have two trainings a day, one with the Canada workout and one with the LSK Club. Oh well, I should be
looking pretty trim for my sister's wedding at the end of July.
