SOCCER DAY OFF IN CYPRUS 21st February 2010
We were given the day off today, which was a very welcome surprise. Even better, breakfast was open this morning,
so we could eat at any time we wanted to before 10:00 am.

I know it sounds ridiculous having a breakfast as late as 10:00 am, when we have consistently been in bed well before
midnight, but I was among the guilty number who did. In fact, I might have slept right through the end of breakfast, but
my slumber was rudely interrupted by the cleaning service at 9:30 am. Even at that hour, their intrusion was most
unwelcome.

I spent the rest of our free morning working on my Maths for Statistics homework. Fortunately, this is a big hotel
and I have found some great little quiet spots where I can buckle down to my books. My distance - learning courses are
challenging.

After lunch at 1:00pm, a few of us headed into Larnaca, not for anything in particular, but rather to move away from
the confines of the hotel. We meandered around for a while, found some fun games in a local arcade, and then found a
sports bar
which was showing the Liverpool v. Manchester City soccer match. Anyone who had the misfortune of watching this game
will understand when I say I would rather have been doing ANYTHING else than watching this game - what a terrible performance. I am a Liverpool fan, but I have to admit that my Anfield team is really hurting me this season. Get well soon
Torres.

Tonight saw us eating dinner at 7:00 pm, followed by physio and treatment, which makes this an incredibly good and quiet
day all round. Tomorrow we jump right back into it, and the Cyprus tournament is beckoning. Oddly enough I am looking forward to
getting stuck back into training and preparation.
