RHIAN'S SOCCER JOURNALS:
2-0 LOSS TO KLEPP CONTINUES TEAM STROMMEN'S
WOES
Translation Per Kristiansen & from Mari
Knudsen 11th October
2009
Team Strommen's struggles since the summer break continued with a
2-0
loss to Klepp away. Klepp deserved their win.

Things started out auspiciously for the game, with
fine weather on Jæren. And, the match started well for Team Strommen, much as it has in recent
games. However, Team Strommen still ended with its third defeat in a row.
Once again, central defender Eli Gulbrandsen had to stand in at
goal keeper as the team is still without their first choice keeper Ingrid
Bruserud. But trainer Janne Jansson said that the deputy keeper played a good
game, and "it was not her fault that we lost this match", he said.
Gry Tofte Ims sent the home team into the lead after 18
minutes. She escaped her marker and steered the ball into goal after a free
kick from
Hege Hansen.
Six minutes later Cathrine Dyngvold doubled Klepp's lead. She
dribbled
past the Strommen left back, went round keeper Gulbrandsen, and
placed the ball in the open goal.
Klepp could have had more goals, as they hit the post and crossbar several
times. Team Strommen did mot seem to want to contest the ball, and their central
defence was often in disarray dealing with the long ball. In the last 45
minutes, Team Strommen hardly managed to generate any offence at all.
So it was another gloomy journey home for the Team Strømmen
players
who have had no points since they beat Trondheims Ørn 3-2 in
the LSK
arena on September 26th. Strommen's next game is against
Sandviken, next to bottom in the Toppserien table. Perhaps this will be a
turning point.
Team Strømmen (4-4-2):
Eli Gulbrandsen - Rhian Wilkinson, Anne Stenstvedt, Marita Skammelsrud Lund,
Dorte Dalum Jensen - Cathrine Dekkerhus (Marit Sandvei 46), Ingrid Wang
Andersen (Mari Knudsen 73), Nasra Abdullah, Lene Storløkken -
Una Nwajei (Ida Elise Enget 46), Diane Matheson.
