RHIAN'S SOCCER JOURNALS:

BRAZIL PREP              9th July 2008

Wednesday morning was busy with breakfast at the early hour of 9:00 am, followed by a tactical discussion, video session, and then a meeting with our equipment sponsors Adidas. So, even though we didn't move from the breakfast room, we managed to get a lot done. ...and, a lot was eaten, seeing as the servers couldn't clear away breakfast things. We just kept noshing and snacking.

The meetings were finally completed by about 11:am, giving us just enough time to grab our hats and sun glasses and head off to the beaches. There, we did an hour long walk and stretch. It was fun seeing the sun bathers trying desperately to get some rays through the thick clouds, while watching our antics. However, even though there was not much in the way of sun shining through the clouds, the weather remains desperately hot and humid, and we we were sweating buckets by the time we headed home to the hotel.

In the afternoon, we were given some time off, so Amy, D, and I headed to the local Puma store. Amy and I are sponsored by Puma so it is always fun to check out locations around the world, and introduce ourselves. Usually, most of the product in the stores is the same, but the Toronto store has a good selection. However, it was a long walk to the location and it took us about half an hour just to get there. We took a taxi home.

When we got back from the walk/taxi ride, we met Amy's sister Cindy in the lobby. Cindy plays for the Quebec W-league team, the Laval Cometes, and they have been in town to play the Toronto Lynx team. They lost 2-1, and it was disappointing that we were unable to go watch the game. It sounded as though the match might have been a fun game to watch, despite the humidity and heat.

We had an evening practice at BMO National Stadium, but it was not a strenuous session. This is usual for pre game practices. This said, I thought we looked sharp during the drills we did do.

Everyone is looking forward to tomorrow. It is something you can see in the intensity with which we are practising. it should be a good game tomorrow.

Tonight will be a quiet one. I have to catch up on television anyway, and catch up on some sleep.
