RHIAN FACES STIFF COMPETITION AT 36TH SPORT-QUEBEC GALA
Canada National Women's Soccer team's midfielder Rhian Wilkinson faces stiff competition at Quebec's 36th Annual
Sports Gala to be held at the Laval Sheraton Hotel on Wednesday evening.

Rhian is nominated as the "Maurice" athlete of the year in a team sport. She was a member of the Canada Olympic
squad in Beijing, the first Canadian soccer team to ever qualify for the Olympics, and she played every game through to a one goal
loss in the Olympic quarter finals against eventual winner the USA.
With 67 caps she was a member of the 2008 Canada team that won the Cyprus Cup, and were finalists in the CONCACAF
Olympic Qualifying tournament and the Peace Queen Cup. She now plays under professional contract with Team Strommen
in the Topserrien League in Norway.

Samuel Giguere is also a strong contender for the award. He is a member of the NFL's Indianapolis Colts Reserve team,
having previously been a star player and excellent ambassador for the Laval Vert-et-Or team in the Quebec University Football
League. The most prolific wide receiver ever for his university team, he signed a free agent contract with the NFL team last Spring.
Samuel Giguere was the first-round draft pick, eighth overall, of the Hamilton Tiger Cats of the CFL.
The third nominee is the all-round baseball player Matthew Langton, a member of the Lasalle Cards team in the Quebec Junior Elite
Baseball League.
